Paraphrasing Tool

One engine, seven configurations. Each mode switches specific rewriting rules on or off and sets its own sentence-length target and similarity floor — so the mode you pick genuinely changes the output.

Rewriting Mode

Natural: Balanced, human-sounding. This mode does not combine short sentences, or strip filler phrases or intensifiers.

A Mode Is a Configuration, Not a Tone Label

A mode here is not a tone label pasted on the same output. It is a configuration that turns individual rules on and off.

Simple and Concise: Shorter by Deletion

Simple caps sentences at 20 words and is the only mode besides Concise that strips intensifiers and filler adverbs.

Concise turns off sentence splitting, adds sentence combining, and allows no word swaps at all — everything it gains comes from deletion.

Professional: Register Without Restructuring

Professional keeps the passive-to-active and phrase rules but drops nominalisation reduction and clause reordering, and blocks the light verbs get, keep and make.

Academic and Formal: The Conservative Pair

Academic and Formal are the conservative pair: both disable phrase simplification, stock-phrase replacement, passive-to-active and nominalisation reduction, expand contractions rather than adding them, and allow sentences up to 45 and 50 words with similarity floors of 0.88 and 0.87.

Casual and Natural: The Loosest Floors

Casual is the only mode that contracts 'do not' into 'don't', and it runs the loosest floor at 0.78. Natural sits in the middle with the widest rule set enabled.

Common Use Cases

  • Deciding which register fits a piece before you commit to it
  • Running one paragraph through Simple and Academic to compare reading levels
  • Using Concise to cut a passage that is over a word limit
  • Using Casual to loosen up copy that reads too stiffly
  • Using Formal for a document that should keep its full contracted forms expanded

How It Works

1

Paste your text

Up to 5,000 characters per request; longer documents go in sections.

2

Choose a mode

Natural, Simple, Professional, Academic, Concise, Formal or Casual.

3

Rewrite

Only that mode's rules run, under that mode's similarity floor.

4

Try another mode

Run the same passage twice and compare — the differences are real, not cosmetic.
