Paragraph Rewriter
The paragraph is the unit that has its own rules. Sentence fixes come first, then coherence guards that look across the whole paragraph and undo edits that would hurt it.
Rewriting Mode
Natural: Balanced, human-sounding. This mode does not combine short sentences, or strip filler phrases or intensifiers.
Why the Paragraph Gets Its Own Pass
Rewriting each sentence well can still wreck a paragraph, so after the sentence pass two guards run over the paragraph as a whole.
The Terminology and Repeated-Opener Guards
The terminology guard spots a word swap that replaced a term still used in a neighbouring sentence and re-runs that sentence with swaps disabled, so you do not end up calling the same thing two names.
The repeated-opener guard reverts any rewrite that newly makes two adjacent sentences start with the same word.
Varying Openings and Connectives
Only then does paragraph-level variation run: where three or more consecutive sentences open the same way, a sentence-final time or place adverbial of two to six tokens can be fronted, turning '…was rebuilt in March' into 'In March, …was rebuilt'.
Repeated opening connectives are swapped for an unused equivalent from a closed list, so a second 'However' can become 'Even so' or 'That said'.
Combining, and What Is Left Untouched
In Academic and Concise modes, two adjacent declaratives of six words or fewer may be joined with ', and'.
Paragraph breaks, markdown headings and list markers are preserved, and sentences are never reordered.

- Fixing a paragraph where every sentence starts with 'The'
- Breaking the habit of opening three sentences in a row with 'However'
- Keeping one term consistent after a rewrite instead of two near-synonyms
- Tightening a dense body paragraph without reordering the argument
- Rewriting a paragraph that includes a bulleted list, leaving the markers intact
